Refugium - Laura Anido-Serrano

Refugium - Laura Anido-Serrano

Refuge is an invocation of the inner space as sanctuary. The female figure, framed by a vegetal architecture and accompanied by birds and flowers, is presented not as protagonist but as guardian of a world suspended between the real and the mythical. Her elevated, serene, and adorned gesture suggests a form of silent protection, an offering of calm amid visual excess. The composition, rich in detail and chromatic nuance, constructs an environment that does not impose but welcomes: a refuge that does not exclude but transforms. The work proposes a layered reading, where the decorative becomes language and the symbolic becomes structure. The use of natural elements, lotus, birds, blossoming branches, does not follow an illustrative logic, but a poetics of fertility, cyclicality, and the sacred. Refuge does not represent a physical place, but an emotional possibility: that of inhabiting oneself with dignity, of finding beauty in retreat, of sustaining oneself through contemplation. It is a piece that does not shout, but endures, like an intimate altar that breathes in silence.

Summer impressions - Laura Anido-Serrano

Summer impressions - Laura Anido-Serrano

Summer Impressions evokes summer as an inner state rather than a season. The female figure emerges integrated into the landscape, not as an observer, but as an organic part of a living ecosystem where flora and fauna engage in harmonious dialogue. Luminous, warm colors create an atmosphere of fullness, while the sinuous lines evoke a natural, almost musical language. The work suggests a serene and conscious femininity, associated with fertility, memory, and a deep connection with nature. The small bird, discreet yet attentive, acts as a symbol of fragility and essence, reminding us that true strength resides in balance. Summer Impressions is a sensory celebration of life, light, and the interdependence between the human and the natural.

Spring impressions - Laura Anido-Serrano

Spring impressions - Laura Anido-Serrano

Spring impressions is a celebration of inner and outer renewal that accompanies the changing of the seasons. In this work, the central figure emerges as a symbol of transformative sensitivity, surrounded by a constellation of floral, gestural, and abstract elements that evoke both the lushness of nature and emotional awakening. The use of vibrant colors, yellow, green, pink, and orange, not only suggests the palette of spring but also conveys a vital energy that unfolds in visual and symbolic layers. The gaze of the portrait, intense and serene, invites viewers to experience blossoming as an intimate, almost ritual process. The composition unfolds as a window into the inner world, where the organic and the dreamlike intertwine. The surrounding patterns and floral forms in the image suggest movement, growth, and openness. Spring impressions is embedded in a visual poetics that celebrates emotional biodiversity, the geology of the soul, and the possibility of rebirth through color and form.

Autumn impressions - Laura Anido-Serrano

Autumn impressions - Laura Anido-Serrano

In Autumn impressions, the female figure condenses into a silent center, surrounded by floral forms, organic ornaments, and gentle color transitions. Natural motifs such as blossoms, leaves, and the snail shell allude to cycles of growth, retreat, and inner maturity. The composition combines echoes of Art Nouveau with a contemporary, symbolic visual language. Calmness, mindfulness, and a deep connection to nature shape the atmosphere of the work and invite the viewer into a contemplative experience.

Portrait of an Intimate Biodiversity - Laura Anido-Serrano

Portrait of an Intimate Biodiversity - Laura Anido-Serrano

“Portrait of an Intimate Biodiversity” is a visual composition that intertwines species from different corners of the world around a human face turned sanctuary. Exotic birds, cosmopolitan ladybugs, and diverse flowers coexist in harmony, yet it is the Polimitas, snails endemic to Cuba and living jewels of its biodiversity, that set the symbolic rhythm of the piece. Their delicate and singular presence highlights the fragility of the native in contrast to the global, revealing a quiet connection between humanity and nature. This work does not merely portray, it preserves and honors.

Wings for the invisible - Laura Anido-Serrano

Wings for the invisible - Laura Anido-Serrano

“Wings for the Invisible” begins with a careful observation of the small and the essential. The central female figure in the piece does not dominate or impose: she protects, listens, holds. Her gesture and the surrounding environment suggest a deep connection with delicate animals, beings often overlooked but rich in symbolic meaning. This choice is not decorative but ethical: it invites the viewer to reconsider the value system of a world that tends to glorify what is loud and grand. The title offers a clear metaphor: there are ways of flying that do not require visible wings. There are movements of the soul, of perception and thought, that can only be carried by the invisible, the internal, the intuitive. With this work, the artist suggests that art has precisely that capacity: to give form to the intangible, to provide structure to the light, to sustain what might otherwise be lost. From a professional standpoint, “Wings for the Invisible” belongs to a coherent artistic journey grounded in a symbolic and “expressionist” exploration where the human, the animal, and the natural coexist in subtle and spiritual harmony. Here, the “expressionist” aspect lies more in the intention and the artistic gaze than in a harsh or distorted aesthetic often associated with the movement. It is a “poetic, intimate, silent expressionism,” focused on how the invisible is translated into image, rather than on any specific graphic style. The technique, detailed drawing, delicate lines, reinforces this message with formal sensitivity. This is not a work that seeks to shout, but to resonate. And that may well be its greatest strength.

Woman with kitten and nature - Laura Anido-Serrano

Woman with kitten and nature - Laura Anido-Serrano

This artwork presents the female figure as a sacred territory where the human and the natural silently engage in dialogue. The serene face, with a luminous gaze, is intertwined with floral elements and organic jewels that evoke protection, memory, and roots. The animal, close and tender, serves as an emotional guardian, a symbol of connection, care, and belonging. The delicate technique and soft palette reinforce an atmosphere of ritual intimacy, where beauty is not ornamentation but a spiritual language. The piece invites the viewer to pause, listen to the invisible, and recognize tenderness as a form of strength.

The city of owls - Laura Anido-Serrano

The city of owls - Laura Anido-Serrano

In this continuation of my second line of work, I am interested in approaching the human being through the figure of an animal. In fact, I often use it to represent human emotions. It is an abstract landscape framed by one or more animals located somewhere in the composition. The use of gold and yellow tones and light effects is a constant in my work.

Soren, flying into the unknown - Laura Anido-Serrano

Soren, flying into the unknown - Laura Anido-Serrano

Soren, the owl, lived alone high up in an ancient oak tree, on the edge of a silent forest. The darkness of the night was his most faithful companion, and the starry sky his only horizon. As the day faded and the moon emerged, Soren felt the magic begin to awaken. Each night, he took flight, his wings cutting through the air softly, as if gliding between the whispers of the wind. He soared high, very high, where the stars seemed so close that he could touch them with the tips of his feathers. The moonlight reflected off his plumage, giving him a silvery glow that made him almost invisible in the darkness. Soren loved these moments of solitude and serenity, when the world seemed to stand still, leaving only him and the vastness of the night sky. Every flight was an exploration not just of space, but of time itself. At times, he felt as if he could see things that were not really there. Between the shadows and the stars, hidden secrets lay waiting, secrets that only he seemed to understand. What untold stories lingered in the darkest corners of the forest? What thoughts floated in the air, whispered by the wind? Soren did not know, but he loved to fly, to let himself be carried by the current of the night, as if the sky itself were guiding him. And each time he landed back in his oak tree, he felt as though he had discovered something new something deep, something that did not need to be understood by others. Only he, beneath the veil of the night, knew its truth. And so, night after night, Soren flew. Not out of a need to find answers, but for the sheer joy of losing himself in the mystery of the darkness, where the world’s secrets seemed to float waiting to be revealed only to those willing to look beyond the visible.

Luminor - Laura Anido-Serrano

Luminor - Laura Anido-Serrano

In a distant forest clad in shades of gold and sepia, there lived an owl called "Luminor", meaning light and deep mystery. Every night, he perched on the highest branch of a hundred-year-old oak tree, observing the world with his deep and serene eyes. The animals of the forest would consult him in search of answers to their doubts. Luminor, soft-spoken and calm, always offered advice that seemed to spring from the earth itself. For him, being an owl meant not only being a night bird, but also the guardian of ancient knowledge, the one who watches from the shadows and understands the cycle of life. One night, in the silver moonlight, a young stag approached, anxious about his future. Luminor, remembering that autumn brings both endings and new beginnings, said to him: "Cherish the falling leaves, for in their fading, the earth prepares to be reborn". Thus, in that autumn-haunted forest, the owl became a symbol of wisdom and peace, teaching all that even in the twilight there is beauty and purpose.

Yellow universe with owl - Laura Anido-Serrano

This work has an abstract accent, with the exception of the animal, which at a certain point in the painting occupies a position of calm, curiosity, joy and caution. Let's say it personalizes my work in a certain way amidst the abstract context in which it is located. The painting is an allegory of an emotional state and gives it its own accent and touch.

Wild geometrie
 - Laura Anido-Serrano

Wild geometrie - Laura Anido-Serrano

“Wild Geometry” presents a dialogue between the natural and the structural. The central figure of the owl, an emblem of wisdom and vigilance, is framed by vertical forms reminiscent of bamboo stalks, creating visual tension between organic and geometric elements. The warm palette and textured background evoke an atmosphere of introspection, while the composition suggests a silent, almost meditative narrative that invites contemplation.

Organic interface - Laura Anido-Serrano

Organic interface - Laura Anido-Serrano

In this painting, the title Organic Interface suggests that the bird — as a living form — interacts with an abstract, almost geological or atmospheric environment. This “interface” is the place where the natural and the pictorial, the recognizable and the fragmented, intersect.

Milo's Window - Laura Anido-Serrano

Milo's Window - Laura Anido-Serrano

From the series: “Windows to the World” Milo is a tiny creature, yet his presence transforms everything. He doesn’t seek the spotlight, he observes. His gaze is that of the artist who contemplates without intruding, who reveals without imposing. Milo emerges as a mediator between the visible and the hidden, between the everyday and the symbolic. His small body embodies stillness, attention, and listening. Milo symbolizes what appears when silence is allowed to speak. He may arise in a cracked wall, in a shadow, in a patch of color, always as an invitation to look beyond. In this pictorial universe, Milo is not merely a character: he is presence, he is question, he is threshold.
