Conrad Mieschke
Conrad Mieschke's work is meticulously detailed, yet always with a spiritual undercurrent that draws the viewer in, to become part of the scene — and part of the artist's feeling. He works in either watercolor, acrylic or egg-tempera, and although most of his work is done in his studio, he takes weekly breaks hiking in search of new subjects and new inspirations.
For inspiration, Conrad draws primarily on the rural countryside of southern Ontario, where all four seasons are equally beautiful. He gets excited by the changing moods of each season, the separation of sun and shadow, the shapes of discarded farm implements, an animal stealthily observed from a distance, or the feeling of peaceful loneliness that bare trees evince. Yet he claims Winter is his favorite season. He loves the snow, the intense contrasts of the time, stormy skies, strong shadows, the contrast of earth and snow, and moodier feelings created by fog or mist.
Artist's Statement:
“Painting is my means of communicating my most intimate impressions of nature, my emotional reaction to life, my deep feeling about my subject and the world around me.
As an artist, I try to interpret nature because it is also my basic belief, that nature is a true source of our inner peace.
If my work is effective in communicating that believe then it speaks for me and I would like to think, that I am succeeding in this effort.”
